(IOWA CITY, Iowa) Oct. 8, 2013 – Bruegger’s Bagels will bring its freshly baked, authentic New York-style bagels back to downtown Iowa City on Oct. 14, after a two-year absence.
The bakery, destroyed by fire in late 2011, has been rebuilt on the same site at 225 Iowa Avenue with a fresh new look inside and out. Housed in a two-story building similar to the former structure, the bakery will include updated menu boards, lively colors and fabrics, more seating and an espresso bar featuring Bruegger’s Bagels’ custom-roasted coffee.
“Though the fire was a real tragedy, we think our guests will enjoy the new Bruegger’s Bagels with more seating and updated interiors,” said Bruegger’s Bagels Marketing Director Judy Kadylak. “We can’t wait to bring fresh-baked bagels back to downtown.”
On opening day, the first 30 guests in line will receive a 2013 Bottomless Mug, good for free coffee, tea or soft drinks all day, every day through Dec. 31, 2013.
The new bakery will open with Bruegger’s Bagels popular breakfast and lunch menu, including authentic New York-style bagels baked on site in small batches all day, 100 percent made-in-Vermont cold-packed cream cheese flavors, plus signature sandwiches, salads and soups. Guests will also find new menu items, including a limited time offer Chimi-Cheddar Egg Sandwich and a new Sriracha Egg Sandwich.
The 2,590-square-foot bakery-cafe features indoor and outdoor seating for 75, a full espresso bar and free Wi-Fi for guests. Hours of operation are 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.
