Bruegger's Opens First Bakery-Cafe in Knoxville
Portion of the opening day proceeds will be donated to the Knox County Imagination Library;
Knoxville-based franchisee plans to develop more bakeries
Knoxville, Tenn. (December 15, 2006) – Irish Luck Ventures, LLC has officially opened its first Bruegger’s bakery-cafe near Long’s Drugs in Knoxville. The Bearden location, at 4618 Kingston Pike, is owned and operated by Knox County resident Christine Taylor. This is the first of several locations planned in Knox County. To celebrate the occasion and thank the community for its support, a portion of opening day sales will be donated to the Knox County Imagination Library.
A ribbon cutting ceremony led by Mike Ragsdale, the mayor of Knox County, the Knox County Chamber of Commerce, representatives from the Knox County Imagination Library and Bruegger’s marked the grand opening.
“It is very exciting to bring the first Bruegger’s to East Tennessee, and we thank our guests and the community for their warm support,” said Christine Taylor, Bruegger’s franchisee. “This is a new market for Bruegger’s and we are looking forward to serving our guests freshly baked bagels, delicious Green Mountain Coffee Roasters coffee and freshly prepared sandwiches and salads.”
“Our franchisees play an integral part in bringing the Bruegger’s experience to an important market, like Knoxville, and we are excited to grow in Tennessee,” said James Greco, Bruegger’s CEO. “Our franchisee partners, like Christine, are part of our growth and play a key part in our success. We’re very proud to be in Knoxville, and we look forward to serving the community.”
Kettle boiled first, Bruegger’s bagels are baked fresh daily to give them an authentic crunchy crust on the outside and a dense, chewy texture on the inside. In addition to fresh, hot bagels, Bruegger’s offers an extensive menu that includes hand-crafted, fresh-tossed salads, made-to-order sandwiches and unique Green Mountain coffee blends, including a daily Fair Trade blend.
The Bruegger’s bakery-cafe design utilizes a soft color scheme, emphasizing natural textures and warm tones balanced with bright colors to make an inviting space for guests.
Approximately 100 of Bruegger’s 253 locations are franchisee-owned. Taylor plans to develop several new bakery-cafes in Knox County over the next three years.
The restaurant’s hours of operation are Monday through Saturday from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and Sunday from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. This location features free wireless Internet.
