Bruegger's Enterprises, Inc. System-Wide Sales Increase 6.1 percent in Third Quarter
Leading bakery cafe opening several franchise bakeries
BURLINGTON, Vt. (October 24, 2007) – Bruegger’s Enterprises,
Inc. today reported that third quarter system-wide gross sales were $41.52
million, compared with $39.13 million in 2006, marking a 6.1 percent increase.
Revenue for comparable sales grew 2.1 percent at company locations and 2.2
percent system-wide for the third quarter ending
October 2, 2007. This period marks 14 consecutive quarters of growth
for the fast casual leader.
During the third quarter Bruegger’s opened four franchise-operated bakeries
bringing the total to 262 bakeries in 21 states. Franchisees have development
commitments for nearly 110 new bakeries over the next few years, including
a 20-unit commitment in southeastern Florida.
“In the third quarter we saw weekend sales continue to rise and
an increase in iced coffee sales,” said Bruegger’s Chief Executive
Officer James J. Greco. “Bruegger’s also introduced a delicious
variety of new Signature Soups which has resulted in a 40 percent increase
in soup sales.”
Bruegger’s expects to open 30 new bakeries this year and another 40
bakeries in 2008. New bakeries have just made their debut in North Carolina,
southern California and South Carolina and expansion will continue in the fourth
quarter in markets across the country.
