Bruegger's Banks on Las Vegas
Three Bakery-Cafes Planned for Development in Western Half of City
(BURLINGTON, Vt.) – Bruegger’s, known in the
restaurant industry as an innovator of the fast casual segment, has set its
eye and appetite on the sands of Las Vegas to open three franchises in the
western half of the city later this year. The bakeries, and franchisee, Gourmet
Bakery, hope to create more than 25 – 30 jobs for the community
with all of these developments.
Roland Werner, head of Gourmet Bakery, did ample research
of the Vegas market before his signing with the company in May 2007. From his
background study, Werner believes Bruegger’s will not only provide a
diverse offering for the health- and taste-conscious, but also successfully
tie-in to the community.
“With its authentic bagels, superior cream cheese and delicious coffee,
Bruegger’s distinguished product has the ability to become the best in
this market,” said the New Jersey native and local pharmaceutical executive
of more than 20 years. “Other bakery-cafés, in my opinion, don’t
fit the local culture of Las Vegas. These Bruegger’s bakeries will embrace
the relaxed feel of Vegas and its people.”
A connection with people’s needs is precisely what encouraged Werner
to become a Bruegger’s franchisee. After considering the available opportunities,
the father of two, including a son with autism, knew Bruegger’s committed
focus on values made it stand apart from the rest.

to provide for my company, my staff and above all, my family,” continued
Werner, who has plans to incorporate charity outreach with organizations like
