Bruegger's Brings Bakery-Cafe Exeprience to Charleston; First New Corporate Market in 10 years
Portion of opening day sales to benefit the Carolina Children's Charity
Charleston, S.C. (August 25, 2006) - Marking its first new corporate market expansion in 10 years, Bruegger's Enterprises, Inc. opened its newest location at 347 King Street today at 7:00 a.m. To celebrate the occasion and thank the community for its support, a portion of opening day sales will be donated to the Carolina Children's Charity, which provides support for local children with birth defects and childhood diseases.
Bruegger's executives were joined, this morning, by representatives from the City of Charleston, the Charleston Chamber of Commerce and the Carolina Children's Charity for an official ribbon cutting ceremony.
As part of the grand opening celebration Bruegger's representatives will be traveling throughout downtown Charleston on Segways distributing coupons. The first 25 guests, this morning, received a free Bruegger's bottomless mug, good for free refills of coffee, tea or soda through the end of 2006.
"We are excited to bring the Bruegger's experience to South Carolina," said Bruegger's Enterprises, Inc. CEO James J. Greco. "Bruegger's freshly baked bagels and healthy menu choices have been very well received in our southern markets and we are delighted to be a part of the Charleston community. We are committed to offering our guests healthy dining choices in a comfortable dining environment."
"Our expansion to Charleston marks our continued growth and we look forward to bringing the Bruegger's experience to additional guests with a drive-thru location at 221 Spring Street that will open in October," said Greco.
Bruegger's plans to open 30 new bakeries across the country by Dec. 31 and 50 bakeries in 2007 and 2008. Currently 10 units are under construction, primarily in the Southeast. Bruegger's is experiencing the ninth consecutive quarter of comparable restaurant sales growth, marking a company record of consistent sales growth.
Kettle boiled first, Bruegger's bagels are baked fresh throughout the day to give them an authentic crunchy crust on the outside and a dense, chewy texture on the inside. In addition to fresh, hot bagels, Bruegger's offers an extensive menu that includes hand-crafted, fresh-tossed salads, made-to-order sandwiches and unique coffee blends, including a daily Fair Trade blend. The King Street location also will offer free wireless internet.
A soft color scheme, emphasizing natural textures and warm tones balanced with bright colors is an integral part of the Bruegger's bakery design making it an inviting experience. The bakery is open Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., on Saturdays from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and on Sundays from 7:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
