SPARTANBURG, S.C. (July 19, 2007) – Today, Bruegger’s celebrated
the grand opening of its first bakery-cafe in Spartanburg at 807 North Pine
Street. The bakery welcomed local business people, friends and family for a
sneak preview party on Thursday night. A portion of the proceeds from today’s
grand opening celebration will be donated to the Gibbs Cancer Center Fund at
the Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System Foundation, which works to bring
compassion, hope and life to all of its patients by providing innovative cancer
treatment and groundbreaking research.
This morning Mayor William Barnett III, members of the Spartanburg Chamber
of Commerce, and representatives from the Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System
Foundation joined Alan Roark, vice-president of Franchise Operations at Bruegger’s,
for the official ribbon cutting ceremony.
The Spartanburg bakery has seating for 60 guests, and offers guests the added
convenience of free wireless Internet along with a drive-thru. The new bakery
currently employs 15 people. The bakery is open Monday through Friday
from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Saturday from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Sunday
from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
To celebrate the grand opening Bruegger’s offered guests an Herby Turkey
SoftwichÔ, the most popular deli-style sandwich which is made to order
and served on a freshly baked square bagel, for 98 cents.
“South Carolina is a growing market for Bruegger’s and we are
proud to have the opportunity to grow here in Spartanburg,” said James
J. Greco, CEO of Bruegger’s. “In addition to our hot-from-the-oven
bagels Bruegger’s offers an array of delicious, healthful menu options
that are always fast and fresh.”
There are currently three other Bruegger’s locations in South Carolina.
The first Bruegger’s bakery-cafe opened in Charleston in August of 2006.
Kettle boiled first; Bruegger’s bagels are baked fresh throughout the
day to give them an authentic crunchy crust on the outside and a dense, chewy
texture on the inside. In addition to fresh, hot bagels, Bruegger’s offers
an extensive menu that includes hand-crafted, fresh-tossed salads, made-to-order
sandwiches and unique coffee blends, including a daily Fair Trade CertifiedÔ blend.
In fact, Bruegger’s is one of the largest distributors of Green Mountain
Coffee Roasters Fair Trade CertifiedÔ coffee.
A soft color scheme, emphasizing natural textures and warm tones balanced
with bright colors is an integral part of the Bruegger’s bakery design
making it an inviting experience.
