Bruegger's Enterprises, Inc. Reports Record First Quarter Revenues

Quick-casual chain reports strong results as growth continues with 100 new bakeries planned

BURLINGTON, Vt. (June 5, 2006) - Bruegger's Enterprises, Inc. today reported that first quarter revenue for comparable sales grew 8.1 percent at company locations and 5.7 percent system wide for the first quarter ending April 18, 2006. Bruegger's gross sales for the first quarter totaled $28.7 million, up from $24.3 million in 2005.

This is the eighth consecutive quarter of comparable restaurant sales growth for Bruegger's, marking a company record of consistent sales growth. The guest check average increased 7.9 percent for company-owned bakeries and 8.1 percent system wide.

"We are pleased that throughout the first quarter we have continued to gain growth in both company-owned and franchise markets. The solid results this quarter are a good indicator that Bruegger's is on trend for another strong year of positive sales results," commented Bruegger's CEO James Greco.

Greco added that the completion of many company initiatives contributed to the overall success of the first quarter. "We entered the first quarter with many completed company initiatives," said Greco. "We completed renovations to all company-owned bakeries and also introduced new menu items, reduced operating costs and placed a focus on guest service and franchise growth, all contributing to a successful first quarter."

Bruegger's expects to open 30 new bakeries by Dec. 31 and 35 bakeries in both 2007 and 2008. Currently, 10 units are under construction primarily in the Southeast.
