Bruegger's Introduces Fresh-Made Tossed Salads

Bakery-cafe chain celebrates launch with in-store customer sampling events; Free salads "tossed" to everyone April 11 – 15

Burlington, Vt. (April 8, 2005) – The next time you stop in your neighborhood Bruegger's bakerycafe, you may notice something a little different about the way salads are made. Bruegger's today announced it is introducing Tossed Salads, a first for the bakery-cafe chain of 245 units nationwide.

To celebrate the launch of Tossed Salads, participating Bruegger's bakeries nationwide will host instore customer sampling events that will run daily, 11:30 a.m. through 1 p.m, April 11 through 15. During the events guests will receive a free, fresh-made daily-featured Tossed Salad sample.

"We learned that our guests enjoy having their salads customized and prepared fresh," said Bruegger's Corporate Executive Chef Philip Smith. "We're focusing on freshness and choice by offering made-toorder salads created and tossed right before our guests. It also adds a bit of theater while letting our guests know that the product is being made fresh."

Smith added that guests can now have their own unique, personalized salad prepared with the "Build Your Own" salad option. "For the first time, our guests can now create their own salads by choosing their favorite toppings, meats, cheeses and vegetables," said Smith.

The new salads feature a wide array of choices and are made with fresh lettuce and a new spring mix.
Tossed Salads pricing ranges from $4.99 - $5.99.

Build Your Own Salad allows guests to choose from three vegetables, one meat, one cheese, one topping and tossed with any dressing.
Caesar Salad is topped with Asiago cheese, crunchy croutons and classic Caesar dressing with a squeeze of fresh lemon.
Chicken Caesar Salad is a classic favorite with a twist, topped with Asiago cheese, grilled chicken strips, crunchy croutons served with Caesar dressing.
Sesame Chicken Salad is topped with grilled chicken strips, sesame seeds, sliced almonds and chow mein noodles served with Asian Sesame Ginger dressing.
Mandarin Medley Salad is topped with sweet mandarin oranges, dried cranberries and blue cheese crumbles, sliced almonds and balsamic vinaigrette dressing.
