Bruegger's Bakery-Cafe Opens in Wallingford; First New Connecticut location in 10 Years
Portion of opening day sales to benefit the Connecticut Food Bank
WALLINGFORD, Conn. (March 30, 2007) - Bruegger's Enterprises, Inc. celebrated the grand opening of its newest location this morning in the Wallingford Plaza at 970 North Colony Road in Wallingford, Conn. This is Bruegger's first new location in Connecticut in 10 years.
Bruegger's CEO, James J. Greco, a resident of Cheshire, Conn., was joined this morning by Mayor William Dickinson, members of the Wallingford Chamber of Commerce, and Nancy Carrington, executive director of the Connecticut Food Bank, for the official ribbon cutting ceremony at 10:00 a.m.
To celebrate the grand opening Bruegger's offered guests a bagel and cream cheese sandwich for just 92 cents and donated a portion of opening day sales to the Connecticut Food Bank, a non-profit organization that provides food to more than 600 food assistance programs across Connecticut.
"This is a great market for Bruegger's," said James J. Greco, CEO of Bruegger's. "We are excited to expand in my home state of Connecticut. I am proud that Bruegger's is committed to supporting local organizations like the Connecticut Food Bank as they help serve the needs of the community."
The new Wallingford location has seating for 58 guests and will employee 20 people. Bruegger's operates eight locations in Connecticut employing more than 100 people. The first Bruegger's bakery-cafe opened in West Hartford in 1992. The bakery is open daily 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. This location also features free wireless Internet for guests.
The first 92 customers in line this morning received a free Bruegger's travel mug and were greeted by Brueggie the baker, the official Bruegger's mascot.
Kettle boiled first; Bruegger's bagels are baked fresh throughout the day to give them an authentic crunchy crust on the outside and a dense, chewy texture on the inside. In addition to fresh, hot bagels, Bruegger's offers an extensive menu that includes hand-crafted, fresh-tossed salads, made-to-order sandwiches and unique coffee blends, including a daily Fair Trade Certified blend. Bruegger's is one of the largest distributors of Green Mountain Coffee Roasters Fair Trade Certified coffee.
A soft color scheme, emphasizing natural textures and warm tones balanced with bright colors is an integral part of the Bruegger's bakery design making it an inviting experience.
