Bruegger's Expands Bakery-Cafe Experience in Phoenix
New development agreement signed to develop five bakery-cafes
BURLINGTON, Vt. (February 15, 2007) - Bruegger's Enterprises, Inc. announced today it has secured an agreement to expand the fresh bakery-cafe experience in Arizona. Under the new franchise agreement Rick Cowley and his franchise group, TBM, Inc., will develop five new bakery-cafes in the Phoenix area. Cowley comes to Bruegger's with over 30 years of restaurant and franchise experience.
"I was drawn to Bruegger's by the quality of their operation. The company is run by a supportive group of people and has a solid brand presence," said Rick Cowley, Bruegger's franchisee. "Bruegger's intrigued me with the type of business that they run and the upscale market that the fast casual segment serves. I am excited to expand the Bruegger's brand in the Phoenix market."
"Bruegger's recently completed its 11th consecutive quarter of growth and is poised to continue that trend in 2007. The growth that the company is experiencing has been aided by the addition of new markets and expansion of existing markets such as Phoenix," said Bruegger's CEO James J. Greco. "We are committed to rolling out new products, like our new ciabatta sandwiches and the whole wheat SoftwichTM, to help keep our menu fresh and give our guests healthy meal options. Franchisees like Rick are integral to helping us deliver these new products and the Bruegger's bakery-cafe experience that guests expect."
Site selection is underway for the first unit, which is planned to open later this year. Cowley's development agreement covers the Phoenix market primarily around Chandler, Gilbert and North Scottsdale. There are currently three Bruegger's bakery-cafes in the Phoenix area.
Bruegger's plans to open 50 bakeries in 2007 and another 50 in 2008. Currently 106 of Bruegger's 254 bakery-cafes are franchise-owned. Currently, Bruegger's is seeking qualified franchise partners for select U.S. markets.
Kettle boiled first, Bruegger's bagels are baked fresh throughout the day to give them an authentic crunchy crust on the outside and a dense, chewy texture on the inside. In addition to fresh, hot bagels, Bruegger's offers an extensive menu that includes hand-crafted, fresh-tossed salads, made-to-order sandwiches and unique coffee blends, including a daily Fair Trade CertifiedTM blend.
Many Bruegger's locations also feature viewing areas where guests can see how the authentic bagels are made. A soft color scheme, emphasizing natural textures and warm tones balanced with bright colors is an integral part of the Bruegger's bakery design making it an inviting experience.
