Bruegger's Continues Growth in New Franchise Markets

Bruegger's announces expansions; two new franchise groups sign development agreements for Northern California and South Carolina

BURLINGTON, Vt. (January 11, 2007) - Bruegger's Enterprises, Inc. announced today it has signed new agreements with two new franchise groups to develop 15 Bruegger's bakery-cafes over the next seven years. These new agreements will develop five units in the greater San Jose area and ten additional units being developed in the Charleston and Columbia markets of South Carolina.

New Bruegger's franchisee, Trung G. Nguyen plans to launch five new Bruegger's bakery-cafes in San Jose by 2011. "Bruegger's will offer residents of San Jose a healthy choice in the fast-casual restaurant industry," said Nguyen. "There is a need in San Jose for a bakery-cafe-style restaurant to offer competition to the existing fast food breakfast and lunch options." Site selection is underway for the first unit, which is planned to open later this year. Nguyen, an experienced businessman, has hired a seasoned restaurant manager to oversee bakery operations.

Daniel B. Krueger will develop 10 bakery-cafes in South Carolina with the first new location opening in the Forest Acres area of Columbia in May. "I was attracted to Bruegger's for its healthy dining options and I was impressed with the concept and quality. I became even more impressed after speaking to Bruegger's leadership team," said Krueger. "I was also looking for a larger venture. I didn't want to open just three units and I have that opportunity in South Carolina."

Bruegger's plans to open 50 bakeries in 2007 and another 50 in 2008. Currently 103 of Bruegger's 254 bakery-cafes are franchise-owned. The company is currently seeking qualified franchise partners in select U.S. markets.

Kettle boiled first, Bruegger's bagels are baked fresh throughout the day to give them an authentic crunchy crust on the outside and a dense, chewy texture on the inside.
