Bruegger’s Bakery-Cafe Opens in Oak Park with Three-Day Celebration

Oak Park Community Receives First Taste of Authentic New York Style Bagels

(Oak Park, IL) – On Friday, April 3, Bruegger’s Bakery-Café will celebrate the grand opening of its first bakery in Oak Park, IL. Located at 1118 Lake Street, the bakery and café will open with the company’s new sandwich menu, launched in February 2009.

Bakery franchisee Jim Arado will officially welcome his new neighbors with a three-day celebration that will kick off with Village of Oak Park president, David Pope, leading the official ribbon cutting ceremony at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 4th. Village trustees and Bruegger’s mascot, “Brueggie” will also attend. Giveaways and tastings will extend through the weekend. 

“Bruegger’s is thrilled to be back in the Chicagoland area and we’re excited to have opened a bakery in a great community like Oak Park,” said James J. Greco, CEO of Bruegger’s. “We’re looking forward to becoming a part of the neighborhood.”

Bruegger’s newest location will provide guests with a comfortable, warm and friendly atmosphere to enjoy a hot cup of coffee or a wholesome meal. With a total square footage of 2,100 square feet, the bakery will feature 47 indoor seats along with outdoor seating for 14. The bakery will employ approximately 21 people.

The bakery-café will also feature free wireless internet service in the dining room.  Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 5:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Saturday from 6 a.m.- 7:00 p.m., and Sunday from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Bruegger’s bagels are boiled then baked fresh throughout the day to give them an authentic crunchy crust on the outside and a dense, chewy texture on the inside. In addition to fresh, hot bagels, Bruegger’s offers an extensive menu of breakfast, lunch and dessert choices.
