Timothys World Coffee Opens First Neighborhood Location in the U.S.

Canadian coffee company chooses Boston for expansion

September 22, 2011 – Today Timothy’s World Coffee opened its first neighborhood location in the U.S., the first of a number of planned retail outlets across the country. The new café, located at 667b VFW Parkway, Boston, opened just five months after the company tested the Canadian concept with a non-traditional location at the Cleveland Hopkins International Airport. The opening comes at a time of significant growth for Vermont-based Bruegger’s Enterprises Inc. and its wholly owned subsidiary Threecaf Brands, which operates Timothy’s cafés.

“Bruegger’s existing operating infrastructure has allowed us bring this beloved Canadian brand to the U.S.,” said Jim Greco, CEO of Bruegger’s Enterprises, Inc. “We are confident that our Boston neighbors will appreciate the quality and variety of coffee choices featured at Timothy’s World Coffee.”

Bruegger’s continued success in the market combined with high demand for premium coffee makes Boston an ideal fit for Timothy’s first neighborhood location in the U.S.

The new café will offer guests a chance to explore and experience the wide selection of Timothy’s 30-plus premium blends, including mild, medium and strong roasts, flavored and ethical coffees and a variety of specialty coffees made exclusively from 100% Rainforest Alliance Certified Espresso. All coffees may be paired with a sweet treat or savory snack from Timothy’s broad menu selection of bakery items and sandwiches for breakfast and lunch.

Boston’s first Timothy’s, located in the Hancock Village Plaza off VFW Parkway, will have 1,800 square feet of space and will feature indoor seating for 30 guests.

“Timothy’s is a strong brand in Canada and has carved out a distinctive position as global coffee experts.  We’re confident this will resonate with the café’s new neighbors in Boston and their desire for high quality coffee and choice,” said Greco.  

Timothy’s plans to open its next location in St. Paul, Minn. within the next few months.
