BRUEGGER'S ANNOUNCES SCHOLARSHIP AWARD RECIPIENTS

North Olmsted, OH Resident Chosen for $5,000 Scholarship Award

Cleveland, OH, August 23, 2010—Bruegger’s Enterprises, famous for their kettle-boiled, New York style bagel, announced Valerie Gideon of North Olmstead, OH as one of three scholarship winners of the annual “Make Dough For College” program.

The “Make Dough For College” scholarship program was created in 2009, as a way to recognize team members who demonstrate dedication to their bakery, community and school.  In order to be eligible for the Bruegger’s Scholarship funds, a team member must work at least 500 hours in the nine months preceding college and through the month of August.  Additionally, they must write an essay that includes why they feel they are an ideal candidate for this scholarship, their interest of study, extra curricular activities and future career goals.  Team members must also maintain a grade point average of 3.2 or above.

“It was a difficult decision to select only three winners for this program,” said Matt Riley, Director of Human Resources. “We have so many hardworking and dedicated team members who qualified, it was difficult to narrow it down to three.”

Gideon demonstrates her positive guest service and dedicated hours to Bruegger’s located at 27045 Lorain Rd, in North Olmstead, Ohio.  She shines in extra-curricular activities, participating in three fast-pitch softball leagues, a select flag corps, National Honor Society, peer mentoring and is a teacher at her church’s Sunday school.

Gideon will attend Ohio State University in Columbus, OH in the fall where she plans to pursue a career as a nurse anesthetist.

Bruegger’s plans to continue the “Make Dough For College” program next year to eligible team members for the fall of 2011.
