Bruegger’s Bakery-Café Celebrates Grand Opening in New Haven

Friday, March 5 through Sunday, March 7, Bruegger’s will celebrate the grand opening of its newest bakery-café in New Haven at 1460 Whalley Avenue.  Located near the Amity Rd. and Whalley Ave. junction, this is Bruegger’s eleventh restaurant in the state of Connecticut. The bakery opened for business on February 7.

The 2,600 square foot bakery-café features indoor seating for 80 with an extensive menu of breakfast and lunch items including Bruegger’s New York-style, kettle boiled bagels. The bakery also offers free WIFI and catering for guests.
“New Haven has embraced our Whitney Avenue location,” said James Greco, CEO of Bruegger’s.  “We are pleased to open a second location in New Haven and become an even bigger part of this great community.”

To officially celebrate the new bakery, Bruegger’s will host a grand opening event on Friday, March 5 through Sunday, March 7.  The first 15 guests in line on Saturday and Sunday only will receive a Bottomless Mug, good for free coffee, tea or soda through December 31, 2010.

The three-day affair will also include giveaways, raffles and special promotions for guests including $0.99 bagels with cream cheese, $2.99 Herby Turkey sandwiches and three bagels for the price of $1.00.  In addition, a portion of the event’s proceeds will be donated to Connecticut Food Bank.

Also, as an official kick-off, Bruegger’s CEO and local resident, Jim Greco, will join representatives from the New Haven Chamber of Commerce and the Connecticut Food Bank in a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday at 10:30 a.m. 

Regular hours of operation are Monday through Sunday from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
