A Taste of Authentic New York Bagels Comes to Greenville; Grand Opening of City's First Bruegger's Bakery-Café
Portion of opening day proceeds benefit The Children's Hospital University Health Systems of Eastern Carolina (Pitt County Memorial Hospital)
Greenville, NC (October 29, 2008) - The authentic New York bagel experience has officially arrived in the city of Greenville. The East Coast Bagels franchise group, led by principal Rich Gallagher, opened the first of several Bruegger's bakeries planned for the eastern North Carolina area. The new bakery opened at 109 Greenville Boulevard SE, Greenville. To celebrate the occasion and thank the community for its support, a portion of opening day proceeds will be donated to The Children's Hospital University Health Systems of Eastern Carolina, a part of the Pitt County Memorial Hospital organization.
A ribbon "slicing" ceremony led by Mayor Pat Dunn, representatives from the Children's Hospital, the Greenville Chamber of Commerce, Rich Gallagher and Bruegger's Vice President of Franchise Development Chris Cheek marked the grand opening.
"This is my first franchise venture and I am very excited to bring Greenville its first Bruegger's," said Rich Gallagher, Bruegger's franchisee. "Bruegger's is well known in North Carolina, with many locations throughout the state. I look forward to developing this market and making Bruegger's a favorite place to go for breakfast and lunch."

Approximately 97 of Bruegger's 282 locations are franchisee-owned. The East Coast Bagels franchise group plans to develop a total of 3 new Bruegger's bakery-cafés in the eastern North Carolina region over the next 3 years.
A soft color scheme, emphasizing natural textures and warm tones balanced with bright colors is an integral part of the Bruegger's bakery-cafés design making it an inviting experience. The bakery-café will also feature a drive-thru window and free wireless internet service in the dining room. The hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Sunday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Kettle boiled first; Bruegger's bagels are baked fresh throughout the day to give them an authentic crunchy crust on the outside and a dense, chewy texture on the inside. In addition to fresh, hot bagels, Bruegger's offers an extensive menu free of artificial trans fats.
